About the Wine
The 2011 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Echezeaux Grand Cru is a distinguished wine from Burgundy's celebrated Côte de Nuits. It features a bright ruby color and an enticing bouquet of fresh strawberries, undergrowth, and a hint of dry tobacco. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a slightly brusque entry, evolving into a harmonious blend of ripe fruit and balanced acidity. Renowned wine critic William Kelley notes, "This is the fastest maturing and least complex of all the Domaine's wines. It opens before the others, displaying a delightful clarity of expression: a seductive tenderness overlays a firm structure which allows it to evolve with elegance."

A beautifully layered nose assembles very fresh notes of red currant, violet, lavender and earth undertones. There is both good punch and delineation to the succulent and utterly delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess a supple mid-palate that contrasts markedly with the dusty, focused and youthfully austere finish that is sufficiently firm to make clear that this is going to require at least moderate patience. -AM
